Columbia River – below Bonneville Dam:
salmon sport fishing re-opens in time for holiday weekend

Action: Re-opens for adult chinook retention four days (July 3-6) and for sockeye retention (July 3-31) on the Columbia River from The Astoria Megler Bridge upstream to Bonneville Dam.

Species affected: Adult hatchery chinook and sockeye.

Area: Mainstem Columbia River from The Astoria Megler Bridge upstream to Bonneville Dam.

Effective date: July 3 through July 31, 2014.

Daily limit: Daily salmonid limit is 6 fish; minimum size is 12 inches. Up to 2 may be adult salmon or hatchery steelhead or 1 of each. Release all salmon other than hatchery chinook and sockeye. July 7 through July 31: Release all adult chinook

Reason for action: Harvestable numbers of hatchery chinook and sockeye remain available based on the in-season forecast update, associated management agreements, and harvest estimates to date.
