Columbia River closed to salmon and steelhead fishing above Bonneville Dam to Hwy 395

September 25, 2019

Action: Closes angling for and retention of salmon and steelhead.

Effective date: Thursday, September 26, 2019 through December 31, 2019

Species affected: Salmon and steelhead.

Reason for action: Fall chinook catch estimates were recently updated, including for coho directed fisheries, and will exceed the recreational share of Upriver Bright chinook allocation. The upriver steelhead run-size is below forecast and several hatchery programs within the Snake and Clearwater basins are projecting broodstock collection shortfalls. Conservation objectives are still expected to be met.

Location: Bonneville Dam upstream to Highway 395 in Pasco, WA.

Additional information: All other permanent regulations apply.

Information contact: Region 5: 360-696-6211, Region 3: 509-575-2740
