Columbia River Estuary sturgeon season extended

Action: Allows sturgeon retention on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays only during July 10 through July 19.

Effective dates: July 10 through July 19, 2009.

Species affected: White sturgeon.

Location: The mainstem Columbia River and adjacent tributaries from Buoy 10 upstream to the Wauna powerline crossing at Rivermile 40 near Cathlamet.

Other Information: Catch and release fishing will continue to be allowed on days not open to retention. The size limits are 41 to 54 inches fork length.

Reason for action: Additional white sturgeon remain on the annual harvest guideline for the area below Wauna.
