Columbia River spring chinook sport fishery
closed from I-5 to Bonneville Dam

Action: The mainstem Columbia River from the I-5 Bridge to Bonneville Dam will close to spring chinook, steelhead and shad angling. The area downstream of the I-5 bridge will remain open 7 days per week.

Effective date: Thursday, April 22, 2004 until further notice.

Species affected: Chinook, Steelhead, Shad.

Location: Columbia River from I-5 to Bonneville Dam.

Reason for action: Closure of the mainstem Columbia River sport fishery in this area is necessary in order to stay within impact guidelines and still have fishing opportunity through April.

Other information: The fishery downstream of the I-5 bridge currently remains open 7 days per week but will likely close beginning May 1. A determination on possible continued fishing will be announced after a meeting of Washington and Oregon fishery managers on April 28.
