Columbia River spring fishery season extended below Bonneville Dam

April 18, 2019

Action: Extend spring chinook fishing opportunity below Bonneville Dam downstream to Warrior Rock for two days.

Effective date: Saturday, April 20 and Sunday April 21, 2019

Species affected: Salmon, steelhead, shad.

Reason for action: Extends the 2019 spring salmon season in the Columbia River consistent with the Compact Action of April 17, 2019. This additional harvest opportunity still provides an expectation that conservation and fishery objectives will be met as sufficient opportunity to use catch allocation and ESA impacts remain.

Location: Warrior Rock line upstream to Beacon Rock (boat and bank) plus bank angling only from Beacon Rock upstream to the Bonneville Dam deadline. Angling for and retention of steelhead, salmon, and shad is prohibited from the Warrior Rock line downstream to Buoy 10.

Additional information: Daily limit 6 salmonids, up to 2 may be adults of which no more than one may be a chinook; only adipose fin clipped hatchery fish may be retained. All other permanent regulations apply, including barbless hooks are required for salmon and steelhead. Salmon minimum size: 12 inches. Shad may also be retained, no daily limit.
