Columbia River sturgeon fishery
in The Dalles Pool to close

Action: Prohibits retention of white sturgeon.

Location: Waters of the Columbia River and tributaries from The Dalles Dam upstream to John Day Dam.

Species affected: White sturgeon

Effective Dates: Nov. 4 through Dec. 31, 2012.

Reason for action: Recreational harvest is approaching the (300 fish) guideline for The Dalles Pool.

Additional Information: White sturgeon retention continues in The Dalles Pool through the scheduled 3-day retention period of Nov. 1 through 3 (Thursday, Friday Saturday), and then closes Nov. 4 for the remainder of the year. Catch and release regulations remain in place.
