Columbia River sturgeon fishery
extended in The Dalles Pool

Action: Extends the retention period of legal-size white sturgeon beyond the July 31 scheduled closure date.

Location: Those waters of the Columbia River and tributaries from The Dalles Dam upstream to John Day Dam.

Species affected: White sturgeon.

Effective Dates: Aug. 1 through Aug. 4, daily retention allowed. Beginning Aug. 5, 2012 until further notice, retention allowed only on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays.

Daily Limit: One white sturgeon between 43-54 inches in fork length

Reason for action: A balance of 140 White Sturgeon remain on the recreational harvest guideline (300 fish) for The Dalles Pool.
