Columbia River sturgeon retention fishery
above Wauna will reopen early

Action: The previously adopted Oct. 8 through Dec. 31 white sturgeon retention fishery above Wauna was modified to include three additional days of white sturgeon retention.

Effective dates: Saturday, Oct. 1; Thursday, Oct.6; and Friday, Oct. 7, 2011.

Species affected: White sturgeon.

Location: The Columbia River and adjacent Washington tributaries from the Wauna power lines (near Cathlamet) upstream to Bonneville Dam.

Reason for action: Sufficient numbers of harvestable white sturgeon remain on the guideline for the Columbia River above the Wauna power lines, providing for additional opportunity for white sturgeon retention in this area.

Other information: The fishery from Wauna upstream to Bonneville Dam will now be open to white sturgeon retention on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31, 2011.

Information contact: (360) 696-6211.
