Columbia River summer chinook
daily limit clarification
Action: From the Astoria-Megler Bridge upstream to the Oregon/Washington border, all coho must be released. Coho salmon were not intended to be part of the daily salmonid bag limit when the summer season was extended.
Species affected: Coho salmon
Area: The mainstem Columbia River from the Astoria-Megler Bridge upstream to the Oregon/Washington border.
Restrictions: Barbless hooks are required.
Effective date: Immediately through July 31, 2015.
Daily limit: Daily salmonid limit is 6 fish; minimum size is 12 inches. Up to 2 may be adult salmon or hatchery steelhead or 1 of each. Only 1 may be an adult chinook. Any chinook (adipose fin clipped or not) may be kept. Sockeye are included in the daily adult salmonid limit. Release all coho salmon.
Reason for action: Harvestable numbers of summer chinook remain available based on the updated forecast, associated management agreements, and harvest estimates to date.
