Cowlitz River fishing restrictions begin Nov. 6
below the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery Barrier Dam
Action: Night closure and non-buoyant lure restriction will be in effect within the area between 100 feet downstream (posted markers) and 400 feet downstream of the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery barrier dam.
Effective dates: November 6, 2006 through December 31, 2006.
Species affected: Salmon and gamefish.
Location: Cowlitz River below Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery barrier dam.
Reasons for action: Ensure an orderly recreational fishery in this recently opened section of the Cowlitz River.
Other information: The salmon daily limit through December 31 will be as follows: Six fish but no more than four adults, except only two adult chinook. Wild coho and chum must be released and all chinook must be released from Blue Creek to Mill Creek. Fishing is allowed up to posted markers located 100 feet (previously 400 feet) below Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery barrier dam. Fishing remains closed within 100 feet of the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery barrier dam.
