Daily limit change in ocean fisheries

Action: Daily limit in ocean fisheries goes from one chinook allowed to two salmon.

Effective dates: 12:01 a.m. August 1, 2009.

Species affected: Chinook salmon.

Location: Catch Record Card Areas 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Reasons for action: After one month of fishing 75% of the over-all chinook quota remains uncaught.

Other Information: Area 1 - Daily limit 2 salmon, except release wild coho.

Areas 2 - Daily limit 2 salmon, plus 1 additional pink, except release wild coho.

Area 2-1 -
Open August 1 through August 15: daily limit 6 salmon, not more than two of
which may be adult salmon.

Open August 16 until further notice, daily limit 6 salmon, not more than three of
which may be adult salmon, of which only 2 may be Chinook. Release chum.

Area 3 - Daily limit 2 salmon, plus 2 additional pink, except release wild coho.

Area 4 - Daily limit 2 salmon, plus 2 additional pink, except release wild coho.

Beginning August 1, release Chinook east of the Bonilla-Tatoosh Line.

Beginning August 1, release chum.
