Action: Opens retention of salmon and steelhead in Drano Lake and the Wind River.
Effective date: June 22 through June 30, 2019.
Species affected: Salmon and steelhead.
Locations:
Wind River: from the mouth to 800 yards downstream of Carson National Fish Hatchery. The mouth of the Wind River is defined by the buoy line markers south of the Highway 14 bridge.
Drano Lake: In the waters downstream of markers on points of land downstream and across from Little White Salmon National Fish Hatchery and upstream of the Highway 14 bridge.
Reason for action: The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife closed Drano Lake and the Wind River to salmon and steelhead angling in mid-May to ensure hatchery broodstock goals were met. Based on updated expected returns to these hatcheries, it is likely that broodstock needs will be achieved at these facilities.
Additional information:
Wind River salmon and steelhead daily limit is 6. Up to 2 adults may be retained, of which no more than 1 may be a salmon. Release wild steelhead. Spring Chinook returning to the Wind River are still being collected for broodstock, so the adult daily limit will be one salmon through June 30.
Drano Lake rules are as listed in the 2018-19 regulations pamphlet. Salmon and steelhead daily limit is 2 hatchery steelhead, 2 hatchery Chinook, or one of each. Release wild steelhead and all salmon other than hatchery Chinook.
