Drano Lake fisheries return to permanent rule

June 26, 2024

Action: Restores the salmon and steelhead angling rules for Drano Lake to those in the Washington Sport Fishing Rules Pamphlet; all other permanent rules remain in effect.

Effective date: June 27, 2024.

Species affected: Salmon and steelhead.

Location: Drano Lake (Skamania County) in the waters downstream of markers on point of land downstream and across from Little White Salmon National Fish Hatchery and upstream of the Highway 14 Bridge.

Reason for action: The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife reduced the adult salmon daily limit in Drano Lake earlier this year to help ensure that broodstock collection at Little White Salmon National Fish Hatchery (and other hatcheries that utilize production from this facility) would be achieved. Hatchery managers have indicated that enough broodstock have been collected to cover all hatchery programs, therefore a reduced daily limit is no longer needed.

Additional information: Anglers are reminded to check the Washington Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet for additional information.

Information contact: Matt Gardner, District Fish Biologist, 360-906-6746.

Fishers must have a current Washington fishing license, appropriate to the fishery. Check the WDFW "Fishing in Washington" rules pamphlet for details on definitions and regulations.
