July 30, 2010
Action: Closes Elliott Bay to salmon fishing.
Effective dates: 12:01 a.m. Aug. 6 through Aug. 8, 2010.
Species affected: Salmon.
Location: Waters of Elliott Bay east of a line from West Point to Alki Point, including the Duwamish Waterway upstream to the 1st Ave. South Bridge.
Reasons for action: Based on state-tribal test fisheries, the number of chinook returning to the Green River system appears to be well below the pre-season forecast and additional fishing could result in not meeting the escapement goal.
Other information: All other rules and regulations for the remaining portions of Marine Area 10 remain in effect as listed in the Fishing in Washington Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet. All of Elliott Bay will re-open for coho fishing, with a requirement to release chinook, beginning Sept.1, 2010. The Elliott Bay Fishing Pier at Terminal 86 and the Seacrest Pier remain open to salmon fishing (see regulations pamphlet).
