Elochoman River opens to fishing for hatchery spring chinook

beginning Sunday June 1.

Species affected: Chinook salmon

Effective dates: June 1, 2008 through July 31, 2008

Location: Elcohoman River from mouth to West Fork

Daily limits: Daily limit is six hatchery spring chinook of which no more than two may be adults. Minimum size 12 inches. Wild Chinook must be released.

Other information: Opens to fishing for hatchery steelhead June 1 under permanent rules.

Reason for action: In the recent years, spring Chinook strays from the nearby Select Area Fishery Evaluation sites have been found in the system. These fish are not needed for broodstock.
