Endorsements not required on Free Fishing Weekend

May 24, 2010

Action: On Free Fishing Weekend, anglers may fish in open areas of the Columbia River and its tributaries without purchasing a Columbia River Endorsement. Anglers may also fish with two poles in lakes where this is allowed without purchasing a two pole endorsement.

Effective dates: June 12 and 13, 2010.

Species affected: All species

Location: Statewide

Reasons for action: Free Fishing Weekend is intended to allow anglers who do not have a license to have a chance to fish. Anglers may also park in Department access areas without a Vehicle Use Permit. Requiring anglers to purchase the Columbia River and Two Pole endorsements would not follow the spirit of Free Fishing Weekend.

Other Information: All other rules remain in effect as to open areas and seasons, gear restrictions, daily limits, as listed in the 2010/2011Fishing in Washington Rules Pamphlet.

Information Contact: Fish Program Customer Service (360) 902-2700.
