Fishing closed on Grays River directly
above and below weir

Action. Close waters to fishing from 400 feet downstream to 200 feet upstream of the Grays River temporary weir.

Effective Dates: Immediately until further notice.

Species affected: All game fish and salmon.

Location: Grays River, Wahkiakum County. Weir is located immediately downstream of the Grays River covered bridge.

Reason for action: This rule change is needed to give fish that are released from the weir sufficient time for recovery before entering the fishery.

Other information: The resistance board weir allows for safe passage of downstream boat traffic. However, the area directly around the trap is CLOSED waters and is posted with NO TRESPASSING signs on the weir structure for the safety of anglers and the public.

The salmon daily limit is 6 fish of which all may be adults. Only 2 of the adults may be Chinook. Release all wild coho, Chinook, and chum. All Chinook must be adipose and/or ventral fin clipped to be retained. Minimum size is 12 inches.

Closed waters and night closures plus anti-snagging rule and stationary gear restrictions remain the same as listed in the 2010/2011 Fishing in Washington pamphlet.
