Fishing to reopen on the Hoh River, including South Fork

September 27, 2024

Action: Reopens fishing under permanent rules.

Effective date: Monday, Sept. 30, 2024.

Species affected: All species.

Locations:

  • Hoh River and all tributaries (Jefferson County) from Olympic National Park Boundary near the mouth upstream to Olympic National Park boundary below mouth of South Fork Hoh River.
  • Hoh River, South Fork, and all tributaries (Jefferson County) outside of Olympic National Park boundary.

Rules: Returns to permanent rules as listed in the 2024-25 Washington Sport Fishing Rules Pamphlet.

Reason for action: Flows in the Hoh River have increased to levels that are not impeding upstream fish movement. Flows are still of concern, river conditions and salmon abundance and distribution will be monitored, and fishing may be closed again if conditions change.

Additional information: Anglers can check the emergency rules webpage for updates, or sign up for the Fishing Rule Change alerts email list on the WDFW webpage.

Fishers must have a current Washington fishing license, appropriate to the fishery. Check the WDFW "Fishing in Washington" rules pamphlet for details on definitions and regulations.
