Five areas of Puget Sound reopen for
late-season crab fishing


Action: Re-opens recreational crab fishing in five marine areas.


Species affected: Dungeness and red rock crab


Effective dates: Marine Areas 6, 9, 10, 11, and 12 - open 8:00 a.m. Nov. 1, 2007 through 6:00 p.m. Jan. 2, 2008, 7 days per week.

Marine Areas 8-1 and 8-2 open daily 8:00 a.m. Nov. 22, 2007 through 6:00 p.m. Nov. 25, 2007.


Location: Marine Areas 6, 8-1, 8-2, 9, 10, 11, and 12.


Other information: Crab fishing will remain open seven days a week through Jan. 2 in Marine Areas 4 (Neah Bay), 5 (Sekiu) and 13 (south Puget Sound), where the fishery has continued uninterrupted since June 18.

Reason for action: Re-opens the recreational crab fisheries because there are available harvest shares remaining in the above Marine Areas.
