Game fish retention allowed in upper Okanogan River

Action : Allow game fish, except trout, to be retained in the Okanogan River, from the Highway Bridge in Malott upstream to the Highway 97 Bridge in Oroville.

Effective dates: Sept. 1 through Sept. 15, 2009.

Species affected: Game fish

Location: From the Highway Bridge in Malott upstream to the Highway 97 Bridge in Oroville.

Reason for action: Provides additional recreational fishing opportunity while the river is open for salmon fishing.

Other information: Night closure and anti-snagging rule is in effect for all species. The Okanogan River from Zosel Dam to first Hwy 97 Bridge downstream of the dam will remain closed to all fishing. Game fish are open under statewide size and daily limits, except release all trout.
