Harvest closed for Newman Lake Tiger muskie

May 27, 2005

Action: The harvest of tiger muskie in Newman Lake (Spokane County) will be prohibited from May 31, 2005 through July 29, 2005.

Effective dates: May 31, 2005 through July 29, 2005, inclusive.

Species affected: Tiger muskie

Location: Newman Lake, Spokane County

Reason for action: Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife personnel are continuing a three-year biotelemetry study on habitat use and behavior of tiger muskie in Newman Lake. This activity includes collection of additional fish for implantation of radio transmitter tags. Prohibiting harvest of tiger muskie from May 31 through July 29, 2005 will facilitate FDA compliance with regulations for fish that are anesthetized during capture and tagging activities scheduled for the last week in May and the first two weeks in June.
