Jan. 1 salmon season opener in Marine Area 10

Action: Amends open days and retention limit for winter Chinook fishing season.

Effective date: Jan. 1 through Mar. 31, 2022

Species affected: Salmon

Location: Marine Area 10

Rule: Open Saturdays through Mondays only until further notice. (Closed Tuesdays through Fridays.) Salmon daily limit is one (1). Chinook minimum size is 22". Other salmon, no minimum size. Release wild Chinook.

Reason for action: Marine Area 10 was originally scheduled to open to salmon fishing 7 days per week in January but is being limited to 3 days per week with a one fish daily limit to minimize the likelihood of meeting or exceeding fishery encounter limits prior to the planned closing date of March 31.

Additional information: Year-round piers; Bremerton Boardwalk, Illahee State Park Pier, Seacrest Pier, and Waterman Pier remain open for salmon fishing seven days per week.
