Kalama River fisheries return to permanent rule

June 8, 2022

Action: Restores the salmon angling rules for the Kalama River to those in the 2021-2022 Sport Fishing Rules Pamphlet; all other permanent rules remain in effect.

Effective date: June 9, 2022

Species affected: Salmon

Location: Kalama River - from the mouth to 1000 feet below the fishway at Kalama Falls Hatchery.

Permanent Rule (through July 31, 2022):
The salmon daily limit is 6; up to 2 adults may be retained. Release all salmon other than hatchery Chinook and hatchery coho.

Reason for action: The adult salmon daily limit on the Kalama River was reduced earlier in the year to help ensure the spring Chinook broodstock collection goal was achieved. Adult broodstock collection is on track and expected to be met, therefore a reduced daily limit is no longer necessary.

Additional information: Anglers are reminded to check the Washington Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet for additional information.
