Klineline Pond fishing to close
for Fishing Kids Event April 17-19, 2003

Action: Klineline Pond will close to fishing two days prior to the April Fishing Kids Event. The pond will open for the fishing event Saturday, April 19 to juvenile anglers only. The pond will re-open for fishing for the general public on April 20.

Effective dates:
April 17- 12::01 a.m., entire pond closed to public fishing.
April 19- 7::00 a.m., netted area of pond open to juvenile anglers until 1::45 p.m.
April 20- 12::01 a.m., entire pond re-opens to fishing.

Location: Klineline Pond is located at Salmon Creek Park in Vancouver.

Reason for action: This rule change is necessary to assure a safe and successful Fishing Kids event. Fish will be planted two days prior to the event to better acclimate them before the event. Several thousand fish will be placed into netted areas along the shoreline of this pond. On the day of the event, kids will be allowed to fish within these netted areas.
The reason for keeping the pond closed until the day after the event is to ensure safety for the public as well as the event participants while the event is shutting down and equipment and nets are being removed.

Other information: The Fishing Kids event has been held at Klineline Pond for three years. This event draws 1,200 registered kids and their families.
