Lingcod fishing to close seaward of 124°30 in marine area 2 on Saturday September 3

Action: It is unlawful to fish for, retain, or possess lingcod seaward of 124 degrees30 W. longitude from the Queets River (46 degrees 32.31' N. lat.) to Leadbetter Point (46 degrees 38.17' N.lat) in Marine Area 2.

Effective date: Sept. 3, 2011

Species affected: Lingcod

Location: Marine Area 2

Reason for action: This rule is intended to protect yelloweye and canary rockfish, two species managed under rebuilding plans by the Pacific Fishery Management Council. The closure will reduce the amount of yelloweye and canary rockfish that are incidentally caught while anglers are targeting lingcod in deeper water where they are more likely to encounter these species.
