Action: Allows sockeye retention in portion of lower Columbia River during the spring season.
Effective dates: May 16 through June 15, 2020
Species affected: Sockeye
Location: Tongue-Point line upstream to I-5 Bridge.
Reason for action: Allows sockeye retention in conjunction with the steelhead fishery in the lower river opening under permanent rules. This action is consistent with the Compact Action on May 1, 2020 and co-manager agreements reached in April during the North of Falcon season-setting process.
Additional information: Daily limit is 6. Up to 2 sockeye, 2 steelhead, or 1 of each may be retained. Release all salmon other than sockeye and hatchery jack Chinook. Release wild steelhead. Salmon minimum size: 12 inches. Shad retention is permitted, no min. size, no daily limit.
Barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon and steelhead.
