Action: Allows retention of up to two (2) Chinook beginning July 13, 2024.
Effective date: Immediately through Sept. 15, 2024.
Species affected: Salmon.
Location: Marine Area 3 (La Push).
Rules:
- Immediately through July 12, 2024: Daily limit is two (2) salmon including no more than one (1) Chinook. Chinook minimum size is 24 inches. Coho minimum size is 16 inches. Other salmon species have no minimum size. Release wild coho.
- July 13 through July 31, 2024: Daily limit is two (2) salmon. Chinook minimum size is 24 inches. Coho minimum size is 16 inches. Other salmon species have no minimum size. Release wild coho.
- Aug. 1 through Sept. 15, 2024: Daily limit is two (2) salmon. Chinook minimum size is 24 inches. Coho minimum size is 16 inches. Other salmon species have no minimum size. Release chum and wild coho.
Additional information: The catch quotas for recreational fisheries North of Cape Falcon in 2024 are 41,000 Chinook and 79,800 marked coho, with a Marine Area 3 Chinook guideline of 1,630 and Marine Area 3 marked coho quota of 2,070.
Sufficient Chinook guideline remains in this area to expand Chinook retention without risking early fishery closure. Marine Area 1 (Ilwaco) is scheduled to close Sept. 30, Marine Areas 2 through 4 (Westport-Ocean Shores, La Push and Neah Bay) are scheduled to close Sept. 15, but areas could close earlier if quotas are met.
