Marine Area 7 to open for additional days of salmon fishing

Action: Opens salmon seasons for additional days

Effective date: July 21 through July 23, 2022.

Species affected: Salmon.

Location: Marine Area 7.

Rule: Open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, July 21st  – July 23rd only. Salmon daily limit is 2, including no more than 1 Chinook. Chinook min. size 22”. Other salmon species, no min. size.  Release wild Chinook, wild Coho, and Chum.

 Reason for action: Catch estimates for the Marine Area 7 summer Chinook fishery indicate that through July 16th, 2022, recreational anglers have reached 44% of the harvest quota (800 of 1800), 17% of unmarked encounters (690 of 3,991) and 9% of sublegal encounters (230 of 2573).  This allows space for additional days of fishing to be added to the 2022 summer Chinook season.
