Marine Area 9 Chinook salmon fishery ends after Sunday, August 10

Action: Requires all Chinook salmon to be released in Catch Record Area 9 after Aug. 10, re-opens the closure south of a line from Foulweather Bluff to Ollele Point.

Effective dates: Aug. 11 through Aug. 15, 2008.

Species affected: Chinook salmon.

Location: Catch Record Area 9, Admiralty Inlet.

Reasons for action: Hatchery Chinook harvest is projected to exceed the 4,000 fish guideline.

Other Information: All Chinook must be released in Area 9 after Aug. 10, except at the Edmonds Fishing Pier. Area 9 remains open to salmon fishing for hatchery coho, pink, and sockeye salmon. The area south of a line from Foulweather Bluff to Olele Point re-opens for hatchery coho, pink and sockeye salmon fishing. The Edmonds Fishing Pier is regulated under separate rules. Anglers should consult the Fishing in Washington, Sports Fishing Rules pamphlet for specific regulations for the Edmonds Fishing Pier.
