Columbia River – mark-selective regulations for chinook removed
Action: Allows retention of both clipped and un-clipped Chinook from Buoy 10 upstream to the Warrior Rock boundary (near the Lewis River) prior to the previously scheduled date of Oct. 1.
Effective date: Sept. 26, 2013
Species affected: Fall chinook
Area: The mainstem Columbia River from Buoy 10 upstream to the Warrior Rock line (a line from the Warrior Rock Lighthouse on the Oregon shore through red buoy #4 to the orange marker atop the dolphin on the Washington shore.
Daily limit: Daily limit 6. Up to 2 may be adult salmon or hatchery steelhead or 1 of each. Release all salmon other than chinook and hatchery coho.
Through September 30, in the area downstream of Tongue Point – permanent regulations apply, including no retention of chinook jacks (<24-inches)
Reason for action: Harvestable numbers of Chinook remain available based on current forecasts, associated management agreements, and harvest estimates to date.
