Martin’s Dock at Lake Sacajawea
will close to public for Kids Fish-In

Action: Closes Martin's Dock and 600 feet either side of the dock to fishing to the public one day prior to the fishing event as well as the day of the event until 7:00 p.m. The area will open at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, June 5.

Effective date:

June 4th - 12:01 a.m., Martin’s Dock and 600 feet either side of the dock closed to all fishing

June 5th - Martin's Dock and 400 feet either side of the dock open to participants in the Kid's Fish-In event - this area closed to the public until 7:00 p.m.

Location: Martin's Dock is located on Lake Sacajawea in Longview Washington.

Reason for action: This rule change is necessary to assure a safe and successful Kids Fish-In event. The fish will be planted one day prior to the event to help acclimate them before the event. Several thousand fish will be placed into netted areas along the shoreline. On the day of the event, pre-registered kids will be allowed to fish within these netted areas. The pond will not open to the public until 7:00 p.m. on June 5.

The pond will remain closed until 7:00 p.m. on June 5 to ensure the safety of the public as well as the event participants while the event is shutting down and equipment and nets are being removed. Several hundred feet of nets will be pulled from the shoreline area. In years past, pulling these nets while anglers were trying to fish presented a a hazard to both anglers and staff.

Other Information: The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has organized fishing events for kids at Lake Sacajawea for the past seven years. This year's event is expected to bring in about 500 registered kids, along with family members, friends and general members of the public.
