Non-buoyant lure restriction/night closure will be
extended on the Cowlitz River

Action: The non-buoyant lure restriction/night closure in the area from the barrier dam to Mill Creek on the Cowlitz River will be extended one month.

Species affected: All species.

Effective dates: Nov. 1 through Nov. 30, 2008.

Location: Cowlitz River from Mill Creek to 400 feet or posted markers below the barrier dam.

Reason for action: In response to a large return of late stock hatchery coho, the closed waters below the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery barrier dam was recently reduced from 400' to 100'
to increase potential harvest. To maintain an orderly fishery, the non-buoyant lure restriction/night closure will be extended one month.

Other information: In this area, fishing from floating devices is restricted at all times from a line upstream of Mill Creek to the fishing boundary marker and hours for access remain 4:00 am to 10:00 pm daily.
