North Fork Nooksack River and Whatcom Creek re-open to fishing
Actions: Sections of the North Fork Nooksack River and Whatcom Creek will re-open to fishing.
Effective dates: Jan. 12, 2012
Species affected: All gamefish.
Location: 1. North Fork Nooksack River from the Mosquito Lake Road Bridge upstream to the yellow post located at the upstream-most corner of the hatchery grounds, approximately 1,000 feet upstream of the mouth of Kendall Creek.
2. Whatcom Creek, from the mouth to Woburn Street Bridge
Reasons for action: The Kendall Creek Hatchery and Whatcom Creek Hatchery winter steelhead programs are expected to meet broodstock needs from returning hatchery winter steelhead.
Other information: To protect wild steelhead, sections of the North Fork Nooksack River will close in February 2012. The section from Maple Creek to Nooksack Falls will close February 1, 2012; the section from the mouth to Maple Creek will close February 16, 2012.
Whatcom Creek will close as listed in the Sport fishing Rules 2011/2012 pamphlet edition, FISHING IN WASHINGTON.
