North Fork Nooksack River to close for hatchery spring Chinook

Action: Closes a section of the North Fork Nooksack River to salmon fishing and retention.

Effective date: June 11, 2021

Species affected: Chinook salmon.

Location: North Fork Nooksack River (Whatcom Co.) from the Highway 9 Bridge to the yellow marker at the upstream side of Kendall Hatchery.

Rule: Closed to fishing for or retention of salmon. Area returns to rules as listed in the 2020/2021 Washington Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet.

Reason for action: Fishery monitoring data indicates that the maximum encounters of wild Chinook will be reached by the end of the day, June 10, 2021.

Additional information: Data from the remainder of the fishery will be evaluated to see if additional opportunity could be available.
