OLYMPIA - The Humptulips River gamefish fishing seasons, including hatchery steelhead fishing, are incorrect in Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife's 2003/04 Fishing in Washington rules pamphlet.
The lower portion of the river, from the mouth (Jessie Slough) to the Highway 101 bridge will remain open to trout and other gamefish fishing through March 31 - not February 29, as stated in the pamphlet.
Also, the portion of the Humptulips River from the Highway 101 bridge to the confluence of the east and west forks will close to all fishing February 29 - not March 31, as stated in the regulation pamphlet.
Wild steelhead release remains in effect. Hatchery steelhead are identified by a missing adipose or ventral fin and a healed scar in the location of the missing fin. The daily bag limit is two trout of at least 14 inches in length.
