Puget Sound crab season opens in Marine Area 12

Action: Opens recreational crabbing in Marine Area 12 five days a week Thursday through Monday.

Effective Dates: 6:00 a.m. June 15, 2015

Species affected: Dungeness and red rock crab

Location: Marine Area 12

Reason for action: Recent test fisheries in Marine Area 12 indicate the peak molting period has occurred and the crab are ready for harvest.

Other information: The June 15 starting date for the crab fishery in Marine Area 12 will give crabbers an extra two weeks of summer crabbing

Test fisheries are scheduled for other Puget Sound marine areas in June and seasons for the upcoming summer crab fishery will be posted on WDFW’s website at http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/shellfish/crab/.
