Rainbow Lake to close to fishing for the season

May 16, 2018

Action: Closes Rainbow Lake in the W.T. Wooten Wildlife Area to fishing.

Dates: June 1 through Nov. 30, 2018.

Location: Rainbow Lake (Columbia County).

Species affected: Trout and other game fish.

Reason for action: The department is planning construction activities for Rainbow Lake as part of the W.T. Wooten Floodplain Management Plan http://wdfw.wa.gov/lands/wildlife_areas/wt_wooten/floodplain_management.php.

These activities this summer will include modifying the dam along the north end of the lake and moving the dam on the west side of the lake to follow the new lake footprint. When completed, these activities will improve fishing access to the lake in areas that have become too shallow.

Other information: The lake will be closed through Nov. 30, when it was scheduled to close for the season.

Information contact: Jeremy Trump, District 3 Fish Biologist, (509) 382-1005.
