Recreational halibut fishing to close in Marine Area 2

Action: Close recreational halibut fishing in Marine Area 2

Effective dates: 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2008.

Species affected: Pacific halibut.

Location: Marine Fish Catch Area 2.

Reasons for action: The South Coast (Westport) recreational halibut fishery is projected to have taken the Pacific halibut quota set aside for the primary season. This rule conforms to federal action taken by the Pacific Fisheries Management Council.

Other information: The nearshore halibut fishery will remain open on Fridays and Saturdays until the halibut quota for that area is projected to have been taken or September 30, whichever comes first. Fishing for or possession of bottomfish, except sablefish and Pacific cod is prohibited seaward of a line approximating 30 fathoms through June 15.
