Action: Opens Marine Area 9 (Admiralty Inlet), Marine Area 11 (Tacoma-Vashon Island), and Marine Area 13 (South Puget Sound) to harvest of non-spot shrimps only.
Effective dates: Open daily from June 1 through Oct. 15, 2025.
Species affected: All classified shrimp species except spot shrimp. This includes coonstripe shrimp, dock shrimp, pink shrimp, and sidestripe shrimp.
Locations and depth restrictions:
- Marine Area 9, the maximum allowed fishing depth is 150 feet.
- Marine Area 11, the maximum allowed fishing depth is 150 feet.
- Marine Area 13, the maximum allowed fishing depth is 200 feet.
Rules:
- The daily limit is a total weight limit of 10 pounds of non-spot shrimp (whole shrimp) all species combined.
- Any spot shrimp encountered must be released immediately.
- When harvesting non-spot shrimp, all shrimp heads must be retained in the field until ashore and finished fishing for the day.
- ½-inch minimum mesh size for shrimp pots during non-spot fisheries.
- Gear may not be set or pulled from a vessel from one hour after official sunset to one hour before official sunrise.
Reason for action: This rule is necessary to open harvest of recreational non-spot shrimp in these areas consistent with State/Tribal management agreements.
