Recreational spot shrimp fishing to close Aug. 16 in Marine Area 6


Action: Recreational spot shrimp fishing is closing Sunday evening in Marine Area 6.


Effective date: 9:00 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009.

Species affected: Spot shrimp.

Location: All waters of Marine Area 6, which is located in the eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca.


Reason for action: The recreational spot shrimp quota in this area will be reached.


Other information: Marine Area 6 will remain open until Oct. 15 for non-spot shrimp. Shrimp pots with a minimum mesh size of ½ inch will now be allowed.
