Recreational spot shrimp fishing closing in Marine Area 6

Action: Marine Area 6 will close to recreational spot shrimp fishing.

Effective date: 9:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2013.

Species affected: Spot shrimp.

Location: All waters of Marine Area 6, which is located in the eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Reason for action: The recreational spot shrimp quota in this area will be reached.

Other information: Marine Area 6 will remain open until Oct.15 for non-spot shrimp, with a 200 foot maximum fishing depth restriction. All spot shrimp caught must be immediately returned to the water. Please see pages 134-136 of the 2013/2014 "Fishing in Washington" rules pamphlet for details on pot mesh size rules, and descriptions of the shrimp species.
