Recreational spot shrimp fishing
closing July 11 in eastern Strait

Action: Marine Area 6 will close to recreational spot shrimp fishing.

Effective date: 9:00 p.m. Wed., July 11, 2012.

Species affected: Spot shrimp.

Location: All waters of Marine Area 6, which is located in the eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Reason for action: The recreational spot shrimp quota in this area will be reached.

Other information: Marine Area 6 will remain open until October 15 for non-spot shrimp, with a 200 foot maximum fishing depth restriction. All spot shrimp caught must be immediately returned to the water. Shrimp pots with a minimum mesh size of 1/2 inch may be used. Please see pages 134 and 135 of the 2012/2013 Sportfishing Rules Pamphlet for details on pot mesh size rules, and descriptions of the shrimp species.
