Salmon fishing to close on the Elochoman River below Beaver Creek Road Bridge

October 31, 2023

Action: Closes salmon fishing.

Effective date: Nov. 1, 2023, until further notice.

Species affected: Salmon.

Location: From the mouth to the Beaver Creek Road Bridge.

Reason for action: The number of adult coho that have returned to Beaver Creek hatchery is far below the broodstock collection goal, based upon expected run timing. Closing this section of the Elochoman River to salmon retention will help increase the number of fish available for broodstock needs and help ensure future fisheries.

Additional information: The Elochoman River remains open for retention of hatchery steelhead. Anglers may retain up to three (3) hatchery steelhead per day.

See the 2023/24 Washington State Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet for current season information. Anglers are encouraged to check for emergency rule changes prior to fishing. Consider downloading the Fish Washington mobile app or signing up for fishery changes at email notification through WDFW Regulation Updates.

Information contact: Region 5 Ridgefield Office, 360-969-6211.

Fishers must have a current Washington fishing license, appropriate to the fishery. Check the WDFW "Fishing in Washington" rules pamphlet for details on definitions and regulations. Fishing rules are subject to change. Visit wdfw.wa.gov/fishing-hotlines to find a list of mobile, web, print, or customer service phone options for the latest rule information.
