Salmon fishing open on the Big Quilcene River

September 2, 2015

Salmon fishing will open on the Big Quilcene River

Action: Open salmon fishing in the all waters of the Big Quilcene River.

Effective Date: Immediately through Oct. 31, 2015.

Species affected: Salmon

Location: All waters of the Big Quilcene River from the mouth to Highway 101

Reason for action: Flows in the Big Quilcene River have responded positively to a change in the weather pattern. Coho are now moving in the Quilcene river and water temperatures have dropped significantly. Environmental conditions now support a return to the regular coho fishing season in Big Quilcene River.

Other information: Other waters in marine area 12 remain unaffected by this rule change. Daily limit of 4 coho, minimum size 12 inches, only fish hooked inside the mouth may be retained.
