Salmon season closes in Marine Area 7

Action: Closes fishing for salmon in Area 7 except open for fishing on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Effective Date: Jan. 29 through 11:59 p.m. April 30, 2015.

Species affected: All salmon.

Location: Marine Area 7 (San Juan Islands).

Reason for action: Catch rates have continued to be higher than expected. The fishery is being closed on Mondays through Thursdays to control impacts on stocks of concern.

Other information: Fishery will begin its closure on Mondays through Thursdays, starting January 29. Anglers should consult the Fishing in Washington, Sports Fishing Rules pamphlet for other specific regulations. The daily limit for salmon is one, however anglers must release wild chinook.
