Skagit River from Gilligan Creek to Baker River reopens Oct. 3

October 2, 2024

Action: Returns area to permanent 2024-2025 Washington Sport Fishing rules.

Effective dates: Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, until further notice.

Species affected: All species.

Location: Skagit River (Skagit County) from Gilligan Creek to the mouth of the Baker River.

Reason for action: This area of the Skagit River was closed to all fishing to avoid gear conflicts during scheduled treaty fisheries. This treaty fishery has concluded.

Additional information: Anglers are asked to respect tribal fishers and reminded to not interfere with tribal fisheries. Conflicts that arise during ongoing fisheries could lead to additional time and area closures. Anglers can check the emergency rules webpage for updates, or sign up for the Fishing Rule Change alerts email list on the WDFW webpage.

Information contact: Region 4 (Mill Creek Office), 425-775-1311.

Fishers must have a current Washington fishing license, appropriate to the fishery. Check the WDFW "Fishing in Washington" rules pamphlet for details on definitions and regulations. Fishing rules are subject to change. Visit wdfw.wa.gov/fishing-hotlines to find a list of mobile, web, print, or customer service phone options for the latest rule information.
