The Wallace River and the Skykomish River (near Reiter Ponds) re-opens for fishing

Action: Re-opens the Wallace River and that portion of the Skykomish River from 1,500 feet upstream to 1,000 feet downstream of Reiter Ponds to fishing for trout (steelhead) and gamefish.

Effective dates and times: Jan. 26 through Feb. 15, 2017.

Species affected: Trout (steelhead) and gamefish.

Locations:

Skykomish River: from 1,500 feet upstream to 1,000 feet downstream of Reiter Ponds outlet.

Wallace River: From the railroad trestle (downstream of Hwy 2 bridge) to 200 feet upstream of water intake at Wallace hatchery.

Reason for action: This emergency rule is needed to reopen the Skykomish River near Reiter Ponds and the Wallace River. The winter steelhead egg take goals for the Snohomish hatcheries have now been met.
