August 30, 2016
Action: The Tilton River from posted markers 25 feet downstream to 25 feet upstream of the fish release site ramp at the at Gus Backstrom Park will be closed to all fishing.
Effective dates: Sept. 3, 2016 until further notice
Species affected: All species including salmon
Reason for action: Fall Chinook and coho are being released on the Tilton River for sport harvest opportunity and reintroduction purposes. After being released, the fish tend to temporarily congregate at the release site. Providing a small sanctuary (closure around the release location) will allow the fish to recover and disperse as well as reduce the potential for snagging.
Other information: On the Tilton River the salmon daily limit is 6 hatchery fish of which no more than 2 may be adults. Only hatchery Chinook and coho may be retained.
Information contact: (360) 696-6211. For latest information press *1010.
