Sockeye retention begins June 30 on Columbia River from Rocky Point/ Tongue Point line to Highway 395 Bridge
Action: Allow the retention of sockeye during the salmon fishery.
Effective Date: June 30 through September 30, 2004
Species affected: Sockeye salmon
Location: Columbia River from the Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to the Highway 395 bridge at Pasco.
Reason for action: The expected return of 115,000 sockeye is strong enough to allow some recreational harvest opportunity and remain within Endangered Species Act guidelines.
Other information: See WDFW fishing regulation pamphlet, as the daily limit for salmon varies by area and time. Sockeye may now be retained as part of the adult portion of the daily limit. Minimum size 12 inches.
