Action: Allow the retention of sockeye during the salmon fishery.

Effective Date: June 30 through September 30, 2004

Species affected: Sockeye salmon

Location: Columbia River from the Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to the Highway 395 bridge at Pasco.

Reason for action: The expected return of 115,000 sockeye is strong enough to allow some recreational harvest opportunity and remain within Endangered Species Act guidelines.

Information contact: WDFW Region 5 office, (360) 696-6211.
