Sockeye retention starts June 30 on Columbia River from Highway 395 Bridge at Pasco to Priest Rapids Dam

Action: Allow the retention of sockeye salmon

Effective dates: June 30 through July 31 and August 16 through September 30, 2004

Species affected: Sockeye salmon

Location: Columbia River from the Highway 395 bridge at Pasco upstream to Priest Rapids Dam.

Reason for action: The expected return of 115,000 sockeye is strong enough to allow some recreational harvest opportunity and remain within Endangered Species Act guidelines.

Other information: Daily limit six salmon. No more than two adults may be retained.
